For a little over ten years, the two 19th-century buildings were London’s most important coal transfer hub. After this time, the coal warehouses and production facilities gradually fell into decay. They were rediscovered in the 1980s and served as a club scene hot spot for another two decades.

Now, after being converted and extended by Heatherwick Studio, the Coal Drops Yard near King’s Cross Station finally has a longer-term future.
