As long as glass and other transparent materials are used in facades there will always be a certain level of risk for birds. It could be significantly reduced however, if a few principals of bird-friendly design were considered. These days, developers and architects who are prepared to incorporate small design compromises for the benefit of birds have a multitude of possibilities available to them; thanks in no small part to Martin Rössler’s valuable research.
