With its 182 apartments, the residential highrise building “Innovationen” is reminiscent of concrete cubes that were playfully stacked on top of each other. The tower has become the charmingly rough and unmistakeable landmark of Stockholm’s northwest, visible from afar.

The almost identical neighbouring tower “Helix” with its 138 apartments is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2021. The twin buildings will then form a super-sized city gate within the skyline. As a homage to Brutalism’s sculptural tendencies as well as a reference to Stockholm’s traditional yellow brick facades, the exteriors are comprised of brushed and vertically ribbed concrete sandwich elements.
