Working in the realm of art requires large, flexible spaces, but not necessarily a constant spatial climate. In accordance with this precept, the French architects Lacaton & Vassal designed a new structure for the University of Architecture in Nantes ten years ago.

Only a few blocks further west, on what was formerly a works site, the Franklin Azzi office has now created the present complex for the School of Fine Arts Nantes Saint Nazaire in a similar style – as an open hall structure with a lightweight outer envelope.
