The structural system of this unconventional dwelling is a wood skeleton construction with the as yet not fully understood wealth of design possibilities inherent in timber structures exploited to the full in this house. By providing the building with a basement under the central section only and resting the lateral annexes on a slab borne by 8 cm foundation piles drilled carefully through the root system, the environmentally-minded architect was able to preserve almost all the trees on the site. The dwelling comprises a central section with a steep-pitched roof and two lateral annexes with single-pitch roofs that slope towards the central section.
