Important for a high degree of sustainability and energy efficiency are the use of local, renewable materials, the exploition of natural resources such as wind and sunshine and the application of physical laws like those of thermal lift, or cold resulting from evaporation – provided that the individual elements are sensibly coordinated with each other and optimized to meet the specific requirements of each constructional goal. In the Agricultural Centre in St Gallen by Andy Senn, the theme of low technology has been interpreted in exemplary fashion.
