The task was clear but very ambitious: The 916 rooms of the student housing complex covering 32,000 m2 of usable area were supposed to be ready for occupation after only 900 days of construction time. Delaying the completion date was not possible since the housing complex was intended to serve as accommodation for 1800 athletes of the Youth Olympic Games that took place in the hometown of the IOC in January 2020. The BIM method helped IttenBrechbühl, the architects in charge and Losinger Marazzi, the general contractor, maintain deadlines and the budget and realise the design by architect Jean-Pierre Dürig without loss of quality.
