Technology: Renewal of the Suspended Ceiling at the Olympic Swimming Facility in Munich

The Olympic swimming facility in Munich was one of the structures erected for the 1972 Summer Olympics. More than 30 years later, the load-bearing capacity of the tensile structure’s suspended ceiling had been depleted. This report documents the history of the facility’s suspended ceiling, as well as the design and implementation of the recently refurbished suspended ceiling.
