Millions of shipping containers arrive in Barcelona’s harbour every year. After a relatively short period of use spanning roughly ten years the robust and moveable modules aren’t just yet scrap metal. They can be stacked up to five units tall. The Catalan architecture office Straddle3 and its cooperation partners have appropriated disused containers as an efficient and sustainable construction material at a site near the harbour.
