Stepped down the steeply sloping site, the three houses have a structure consisting largely of prefabricated timber-stud elements with larch cladding. The numerous external terraces and balconies provide direct access to the open air from most rooms. Each of the four levels is subdivided by grouped ancillary spaces. The individual houses are separated and articulated by the set-back entrance and staircase zones. The top flight of stairs is without risers, allowing additional light to penetrate to the internal living spaces. Greater flexibility in the layout was obtained by introducing steel beams to support the timber structure. Despite the density of the development, the three families enjoy a high degree of privacy.
