Looking like a gigantic inverted beehive, “The Vessel” occupies the central public open space in Hudson Yards on the west bank of Manhattan. At a height of 46 m, the viewing platform is high enough to give visitors a view over the now partially built-over Long Island Rail Road depot towards the Hudson River. On the other hand, the project is tiny in relation to the skyscrapers with heights of up to 400 m surrounding it.
