The forgotten village of Mulegns in the Alpine canton of Graubünden (Grisons) has seen better days. In the 19th century, it was an important stop on the arduous journey from Zurich to Davos or St. Moritz, where the horses pulling the mail coaches were rested and changed.
In 1856 the confectioner Jean Jegher, who had returned from Bordeaux, had the White Villa built as his retirement home. On August 20 last year, the villa, which had become the bottleneck for traffic on the Julier Pass, now went on its ceremonial journey, accompanied by light art and Rhaeto-Romanic singing.
