The three new bridges across the canal augment the infrastructure of the rapidly developing region west of Amsterdam Airport. Designed to be read as an ensemble, all three structures are cable-stayed from spindle-like main pylons. A certain resemblance to musical instruments may also be seen in them. The first bridge, the “harp”, marks the entrance to the Nieuw Vennep area. Situated in the middle of the carriageway, the pylon is inclined along the longitudinal axis of the bridge and is stabilized by the steel cable stays from which the carriageway is suspended.
