The criticism that wooded high-rise buildings are prestige projects for the well-to-do was not entirely unjustified: immediately after the completion of the first Bosco Verticale in Milan in 2014 the condominiums there cost 6000 – 7000 €/m2. Stefano Boeri together with Inbo has recently completed the first vertical forest for social housing in the Netherlands. The housing association Trudo has built a total of 125 apartments ranging from 35 to 50 m², each with a balcony and two greened planters, in the former Philips industrial estate Strijp-S. The basic monthly rent of 633 euro is just below the social housing rent price.
