The architects' task was to give form to the unfinished spaces of the entrance hall and the station hall beneath it, and by means of a robust cladding transform them into what they were designed to represent: realms of public transport. Moreover, it was the client's ambition to distinctively relate the underground station to the splendour of the Prinzregententheater. The leitmotif of the design chosen was a »wall cladding in black and white« and borrowed from the design of the entrance hall of the FAGUS-Works in Alfeld on the River Leine (Gropius - Meyer 1911 to 1914).
