Echo, the new interfaculty education building on the Delft University of Technology campus, has no closed facade surfaces whatsoever. The building envelope consists of room-height glazing throughout and, thus, creates a maximum degree of links to the surrounding environment. Nearly all teaching and study spaces are visible from the exterior. As a result, Echo appears similar to an open book. The three storey new construction is located centrally on the campus and houses a diverse set of spaces covering roughly 8800 m2 for 1700 students of all disciplines. A plenary hall, meeting and project rooms, as well as an auditorium for 700 students that can be easily separated into three independent halls are part of the functional program, complemented by informal work areas and a restaurant.
