A prime consideration in building this training centre for the visually handicapped was to maintain clear spatial divisions and establish simple, comprehensible communication routes, whilst keeping changes of direction to a minimum. This affords easier orientation and consequently greater independence to the handicapped users. The staircase in the main building of this low-rise complex is of steel and has 12 cm thick mahogany steps, which thus conform to building guidelines on open staircases for the visually handicapped.
