The Berlin-based architect Andree Weissert is an avid woodworker and specialist for custom remodelling in existing buildings. For our interview, we meet in his apartment, which he redesigned in a family-friendly way. You call your apartment hermitage, loft and labyrinth. Why three terms at once? Because it is a home for a most different set of needs. It is an apartment for my family, but also a workplace and a playground for the kids. We have been living here for some time. The remodelling took place last year. We created a spatial situation that corresponds to our current living circumstances and allows us to move very freely. We have platforms, circulation space similar to a roundabout and and rooms that can be explored in a three-dimensional way. The kids experience the place very joyfully.
