The efforts of a vintners’ cooperative in Alto Adige to present its wines in a more modern light ultimately developed into an exercise in corporate design. A new skin was wrapped round part of the building half a metre outside the existing facade. It consists of a steel framework clad with oak boarding of different widths. The dark-red sheet-steel reveals to the openings create a three-dimensional effect, and by keeping a view of the sky free at the top, the new skin is exposed as the mise en scène it really is.
