In 2013, the »flying carpet«, as the harbour baths are known, was anchored in Hasle on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. The former industrial and fishing harbour, where this striking concrete and steel structure is located, is shielded from the Baltic by granite moles, but these block the fine view of the sea. That was why the baths were given their expressive form, with two flights of stairs rising from the 360 m2 platform. Flanking the swimming pool is a flat, L-shaped area that serves as a sun deck.

Opposite this is a 6-metre-high diving tower, from where one has a view of the horizon and the sunset. The azobé wood finishes provide a pleasant surface as well as offering great resistance to the weather and salt-water pests. The platform, with its many uses, and a sauna with service facilities make this location an attractive year-round venue. Further sun decks to cover the sharp-edged granite moles are still to be added and will form a visual link between the baths and the harbour area.
