The fire station is designed to facilitate speed of response in emergencies. Fire poles connect staff areas on the upper floor with the vehicles room immediately below. The building's own fire-resistant structure is divided into two fire compartments. The fire tower is no longer the traditional place for drying the hoses, but here serves a variety of training needs, e.g. equipment handling and rescues via ladders, stairs, over balconies or through windows. Fixed to the tower is the station code number and various technical installations, such as a wind sock, antenna and anemometer. The towers open steel construction lends great flexibility of use. The vehicles hall is also of steel, other areas having steel columns with in situ concrete decks.
