Consisting of a church, social welfare offices and a nursing home, this urban ensemble allows elderly people to participate in public life. The dwelling complex is oriented to the line of the street, while the block containing the church and welfare offices – one storey higher – is turned at an angle to this. Both structures are enclosed within brick outer skins. The full-height church space, with five floors of offices wrapped round it on three sides, draws daylight from above through two deep, longitudinal strips in the coffered roof.

The facades of the U-shaped nursing home are punctuated by rectangular window openings. The ground floor contains spaces for public uses. On the three storeys above this are 90 rooms for day care, short-term and in-patient residence. These are laid out in groups with individual living rooms and treatment areas and with common dining spaces. Views to the busy surroundings or to the courtyard and gardens allow residents to choose whether they prefer to participate in community activities or to lead a more withdrawn life.
