At the end of June, after a two-year construction period, the first true skyscraper in Cologne will be taken into service. With a height of 148?m, it is only just short of the finials of Cologne Cathedral, with which it conducts an exciting dialogue. Based on a successful competition design submitted by the Canadian architect Eberhart Zeidler in 1987, the tower forms the new landmark of the city’s Media Park. The structure is articulated into eight segments fanned out to a semicircular plan around a central open space. The complex houses cinemas, Internet companies, TV and radio channels as well as general office and dwelling space. FK
